Many who believe in astrology also say they believe in God and the resurrection of Christ
More than 30 percent of Americans believe in astrology and over half believe in ghosts. Many of those also say they believe in God, the resurrection of Christ and the Virgin Birth.
Astrologer Cheri Camille has a quiet manner about her and the advice she gives is very practical. In fact, it sounds almost Christian.
Recently, she told a client: "You and God sit down and say, OK, this is what you're coming down to accomplish. And this is the best time for you to accomplish that."
But what Camille and her fellow occultists are practicing is directly opposed to Christianity. Elliot Miller, of the Christian Research Institute, said it's actually a religion as old as man.
"All of these practices are part and parcel of what paganism is," Miller said. "Paganism is man's alternative to true religion."
A recent Harris Poll noted that the trend is particularly strong among the young, with 60 percent of those under 30 believing in ghosts, and 43 percent believing in astrology. Miller said they want spiritual answers to life, just not the ones God is offering.
"When man turns away from God but still wants to have a spiritual dimension to life, the only dimension that's open to him is the devil. And the Bible makes it very clear that the devil is very much involved and empowers these other forms of spirituality," Miller said.
Miller believes that God has provided everything He wants us to know about the future in His Word.
