A Woodbridge man now faces four charges of child rape for acts he claims are part of his religion.
A Prince William County grand jury this week handed up an additional two charges of rape against Russell Smith. He already faced two charges. All of them involve the same teenage girl.
Investigators reportedly found an altar, skull, and other symbols of the occult in Smith's Woodbridge home, along with a makeshift bed and children's underwear.
Smith was the subject of a nationwide hunt for two weeks before being arrested in Oregon in September. He had taken his 12-year-old daughter with him on his cross-country trek.
The girl was later found with him, unharmed.
Smith is scheduled to go on trial in March.
