State Urged to Adopt Unconventional Educational Program

State education officials are being urged to adopt a Utah organization's educational notions.

They include giving children nutritional supplements, detoxifying some students in saunas and study methods created by the founder of the Church of Scientology.

The Legislature sought to provide one (M)million dollars for the state Office of Education to implement the proposals.

Governor Olene Walker vetoed the item.

However, the Deseret Morning News says some legislators still are urging the state to implement the program.
