A member of a religious sect facing second degree murder charges in the death of her one-year-old son is expected to appear at a hearing today.
Karen Roubidoux's trial was originally scheduled to begin today. Instead, a judge at Brockton Superior Court will hear a status report of her psychiatric evaluation.
Robidoux was sent to Taunton State Hospital for the evaluation after her attorney requested. Attorney Joseph Krowski said she had become increasingly depressed.
Robidoux has pleaded innocent to charges she allowed her infant son Samuel to starve to death. Krowski says Robidoux is not criminally responsible because she was brainwashed by other members of the Attleboro-based religious sect.
