Spanish-speaking Muslims from several countries will hold
their first congress April 3-5 in the Spanish city of Seville on the theme
"Islam of the two Banks."
The meeting, sponsored by the World Islamic Call Association, will highlight
the role of the Spanish-Speaking Muslim community, which is currently 14
million strong, including seven million souls settled in the United States
alone.
Current situation of Muslims in Spain and Latin America and Islam in the 21st
century are among the major items to be debated by participants.
Seville authorities are debating with promoters of the congress the possibility
to create a Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies and a chair on Islam at the
Seville University.
