Islamic militants arrested in Malaysia

Malaysian police have arrested another six alleged Islamic militants suspected of having trained in Afghanistan.

A police spokesman says the men, five of them teachers in religious schools, were arrested under the Internal Security Act which allows detention without trial for threatening the country's security.

Malaysia's Education Department has sacked or warned 61 university lecturers allegedly involved in anti-government activities.

Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has told all civil servants and students to sign a pledge of good conduct.
