Shariah Council finalises recommendation for Islamisation

Nifaz-e-Shariah Council has finalised its report and would hand over it to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal government here Monday for implementation of Islamic system in the North West Frontier province.

Almost all the central leaders of the MMA including JI amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad, JUI-F secretary general Maulana Fazlur Rahman, JUI (Samiul Haq)'s chief Maulana Samiul Haq, secretary general of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani and other members of the six parties coalition government also reached Peshawar.

Maulana Mufti Ghulamur Rahman, chief of Shariat committee that prepared the recommendations for the MMA government told The News they would hand over their report to leaders of the six parties coalition on Monday night.

These leaders would later formally tender it to provincial government, he said. "All leaders of the six parties alliance have expressed their consent over these recommendations," he maintained.

The MMA-led government had formed the council to review the recommendations of the former Nifaz-e-Shariah council that had prepared a detailed report of its recommendations for the implementation of the Islamic form of government in the country. The council comprised leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam who along with renowned scholars, religious leaders and intellectuals prepared the report.

He said that the recommendations would be discussed in the cabinet as well as in the Provincial Assembly after which it would implemented throughout the province. "Our priorities were to get rid of corruption, joblessness and to ensure better law and order situation in the province," the chief of the council added.

He said that the government of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal could implement in the area that comes under its jurisdiction. "We have no hurdles in our way to implement these recommendations as they were according to the demands of the public," Mufti remarked.

About the punishments of cutting hands and other penalties like that, he said that these are the federal subjects. However he stated that several punishments in the constitution are according to the Islamic laws and have no difference. The chief of the council said that they would have to make a very few changes at the time of legislation as many of these recommendations could be implemented through administrative orders.

"We have not received any thing regarding the resolution of abolition of property tax from houses and residential plots. He said that he has visited several district to get know about the version of general public.
