Greek Church Opposes Ecumenical Patriarchate

The actions of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul in the following days are eagerly awaited, ANA reports. The Holy Synod of the Greek Church appointed four new metropolitan bishops in four Greek cities in spite of the strong opposition of the Patriarchate. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew warned the Greek Church he’ll discard its choice. The new metropolitan bishop of Thessalonica will be Anthimos - the former metropolitan of Alexandroupolis, the metropolitan of Kozani will be Archimandrite Paul Papaleksiou, and the metropolitan of Mesogea and Lavreotiki will be Archimandrite Nikolaos Hatzinikolaou.
