A national spiritual centre of the Turkmen leader Turkmenbashi will be built in Ashgabat.
Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov approved the project at the cabinet meeting on Monday.
The Turkmen parliament conferred the honoured name Turkmenbashi -- head of Turkmens - on Niyazov in 1992.
The complex will be the main centre of Turkmens' spiritual life, Niyazov said.
The Turkmenbashi centre will have a library, a museum and a palace to hold ceremonial meetings.
The Turkmen president devoted his main written work -- the book Rukhnama (Spirituality) -- to the idea to maintain the high spiritual wealth of Turkmen people, their moral traditions and history. The contemporary generation of Turkmenistan’s people is brought up on the book.
The Turkish company GAP Insaat is entrusted to construct the complex, the cost of which is estimated at 75 million dollars, according to the president.
At present, the company carries out about 20 projects in Turkmenistan. The total cost of the projects exceeds a billion dollars.
