The state on Monday agreed to allow Israeli Druse pilgrims to visit Syria for the first time in Israel's history.
The agreement came in the wake of a High Court petition by 250 Druze sheikhs against the government's refusal to allow them to go. The visit became possible after Syria dropped its opposition to the visit by Israeli Druse.
According to the agreement reached in the court, a Druse contingent will be allowed to leave Israel via the Kuneitra crossing point and remain in Syria for 72 hours during the month of September.
