FOUR followers of Godfrey Nzira's Apostolic Sect who were arrested for assaulting a police officer and court officials have been further remanded in custody to today for a ruling on their bail application.
Everton Chigwande (29), Tops Nyamina (42), Chrispen Mutsadyanga (29) and Letitia Simbisai, whose age was not in the State papers, allegedly assaulted a police officer and court officials on Monday, following the conviction of Nzira. The four are alleged to have led about 2 000 of Nzira's followers in the mayhem that followed his conviction resulting in police reinforcement units being summoned to stop the violence. Public prosecutor Mehluli Tshuma alleged that the worshippers showed total disregard for the judiciary system by assaulting a police officer and some court officials and did not deserve bail.
Magistrate Ms Judith Tsamba is expected to make a ruling on the bail application today.
