Narc leader Charity Kaluki Ngilu has praised the Catholic and Anglican churches for their commitment to fight for the rights of Kenyans.
She said the two churches have done a lot of good in championing for democracy and good governance.
"Without support from the churches, the opposition alone could not have succeeded in the fight for freedom," Ngilu said.
She said the Government should not take the role played by the churches as political.
Ngilu was addressing thousands of faithful at the Anglican Church of Kenya Kitui Diocesan, St Martin's Cathedral, who attended the consecration and enthronement of the new Diocesan Bishop the right Rev Josphat Vundi Mule.
Ngilu asked the clergy to continue praying for the success of an opposition-led government.
She criticised the Government for courting incompetence and corruption that has led to great loss in resources. Ngilu assured Kenyans that they will enjoy the national fruits under the Narc government.
Addressing the function, Kitui Catholic Diocesan Bishop the right Rev Boniface Lele complained about bad governance.
The bishop said that the clergy in the country have been forced to fight for the people's rights because the Government had oppressed its people.
"The church in the country was forced to take the Government's responsibility of assisting the people develop because the Government has distanced itself from its people," Lele said.
