Polygamist sect cancels school bond election

PHOENIX The Colorado City polygamist sect has canceled plans for an emergency school bond election.

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints had wanted to raise one and a-half (m) million dollars for a district that can't defend its current spending habits.

The director of elections in Mohave County says he was notified of the cancellation late last week.

The Arizona Auditor General's Office notified state education officials August 20th the school district failed to meet legal deadlines for reporting how it spent state and federal funds last year.

The F-L-D-S is a breakaway religious sect that teaches women are property and men must have at least three wives to reach the "Celestial Kingdom."
