Sulaimani — U.N. investigators said on Thursday (June 16) the Islamic State (ISIS) has committed genocide against Ezidis in Iraq and Syria, seeking to destroy the ethnic and religious group of more than 400,000 through killings, sexual slavery and other crimes.
The Council of Inquiry on Syria issued its first report on Thursday urging the major powers to rescue at least 3,200 women and children who are still held by ISIS.
“The genocide of the Ezidis is ongoing," the independent investigators said in the report.
The investigators also urged the major powers to refer the case to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for prosecution.
