San Francisco, USA - Members of a Chinese religious sect claim that they were assaulted on Chinatown streets by people connected with the Chinese Communist Party.
Falun Gong, a quasi-religious sect which is persecuted in China, claim they were assaulted at least eight times in recent months by people in Chinatown, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
Video of the attacks was shown to the Board of Supervisors last week, according to the newspaper.
In China, members of Falun Gong claim persecution by the government including imprisonment, torture, and organ-farming, the newspaper reported.
The Chinese government is in the process of being overhauled, the newspaper reported. Falun Gong protesters were attacked while holding signs saying, "San Francisco is not Beijing," the newspaper reported.
Falun Gong members are not allowed to participate in the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade.
Police confirmed two assaults and said the incidents are under investigation.
