A tiny village in southern France has seen an influx of Doomsday believers, who think its mountain peak is an alien refuge and escape route to the Apocalypse.
The new age thinkers are convinced the village will be the only place to survive judgment day in 2012.
Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, in a region once home to a mysterious heretic sect, the village has inspired countless myths, supported by the particular nature of the site.
The Internet is awash with predictions that the world will come to an end next year, based in part on an interpretation of the ancient Mayan calendar which claims December 21, 2012, marks the end of the current era, but if the rumours are true this little French village will survive it.
