Nigeria: Boko Haram Invades Mararaba Border Town

Jos, Nigeria - T here are indications that the Boko Haram sect is trying to make its way into the nation's Federal Capital Territory.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY investigation reveal that the religious fanatics since the last serial killings in Maiduguri and Bauchi states, and their subsequent crack down by the police, partly relocated to a building material market near Jos, the Plateau state capital.

At the said market, the fanatics disguise as petty traders .They use vehicles loaded with tomatoes and assorted vegetables heading for the FCT to export arms into the nation's capital city.

It was gathered that they normally take refuge in an uncompleted World Bank Assisted market project located close to the Mararaba police station before they get to the FCT. Once they arrive the capital city, they head straight to a bathing house near Dunamis Church in Area 1.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY uncovered that it is from here that they distribute their arms consignment to prospective buyers and members respectively. They also distribute Indian hemp.

Though there has not been any official confirmation of the presence of the fanatics, LEADERSHIP SUNDAY can state that they are equally being accommodated at the Jumat Mosque, near Aso market in Mararaba.

Sources confirmed to this reporter that fracas nearly broke out last Friday over faulting of the doctrine being preached by a scholar, but for the intervention of opinion leaders in the area.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY can also assert that members of the sect who are always dressed in their traditional short and white trousers and wear their rebellious beards can also be found under Mararaba bridge in the evenings unwinding while they share subversive doctrines with their audience.

One thing that leadership Sunday could not unravel was why the public bath house in Area 1 is being spared despite the demolition of structures in the area.
