Hong Kong - A Buddhist nun has been convicted of drunkenly assaulting her master in a temple in Hong Kong, a news report said Friday.

Ma Wai-luen, 49, attacked her master Po Tai-gan during an argument after he smelled alcohol on her breath at the temple in the Tseun Wan district, the South China Morning Post reported.

The nun hurled plastic chairs at Po, injuring his forehead, the newspaper said.

Ma pleaded guilty to assault at a hearing Thursday and will be sentenced on November 18.

Hong Kong, a city of seven million, is home to an estimated 700,000 Buddhists and Taoists and has more than 600 temples.
