Lexington, USA - A missionary couple from Thomasville died after their car was pushed into oncoming traffic along Highway 109 near Lexington on Saturday.
Jerry Paul Lambeth, 66, and Patricia Norris Lambeth, 64, were both killed when they were rear-ended and pushed into oncoming traffic near the Fairgrove Box dump on Highway 109.
According to the Lexington Dispatch, the couple was struck by a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Trina Marie Fraley. The couple's vehicle then rolled over and crossed into the southbound lane where it was struck by a second vehicle.
Patricia Lambeth was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Jerry Lambeth was transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center via Air Care helicopter where he later died.
The couple was part of a missionary effort that traveled the world and helped communities build churches.
"Jerry and Pat had a mission called Christ Bible Conference and they would build churches all over the world. They are the type of people that you just love," said church member David Lilly.
The couple often held fundraisers to help support the mission.
"I mean they are genuinely loved people and you always looked for them on their little bench they sat on here in the church," said Lilly. He hopes the couple's good deeds will now be carried out by fellow missionaries of Christ Bible Conference.
I think their purpose was fulfilled and they were able to spend Easter Sunday in heaven. That's so great," said Lilly.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at Mt. Zion Church in Lexington.
