Washinton, USA - We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the people of Haiti who have lost loved ones or homes, or suffered injury due to the recent catastrophic earthquake in Haiti. The magnitude of the devastation is overwhelming in a nation which already struggled with enormous challenges, as the most impoverished nation in the western hemisphere. The outpouring of concern, medical assistance, monetary and humanitarian aid from the people and nations of the world in response to this calamity is an awe-inspiring example of compassion and humanity. The prayers of all members of the Family International are with the Haitian people, as well as with those involved in humanitarian relief efforts. Our hope is that the suffering of the Haitian people will be relieved speedily and that the rebuilding of their nation can begin.
