Sana'a, Yemen - Security men in the Tourist City in the capital Sana'a foiled an attempted assassination against the Jewish rabbi Yahya Yusuf, by three of al-Houthi terrorists on Wednesday.
The three accused persons, followers of the al-Houthi rebels, entered the Tourist City under the pretext of tourism on Wednesday, but they remained touring the city in a way that aroused suspicion of security men confronted them and found with three handguns, said an official source.
In interrogation statements al-Houthi suspects confessed that they were intending to assassinate the Jewish rabbi Yahya Yusuf inside the Tourist City.
Security apparatus of the Tourist city have also retained the car that the three elements were using, along with arrest of the three suspects in preparation for sending them and the seized evidence to trial, affirming the completion of investigations.
He pointed out that the three persons are from Marib, al-Jawf and Sana'a provinces and that they are still detained at the Tourist City.
Rabbi Yusuf, leader of the 65-member Jewish group in Yemen had earlier strongly criticized al-Houthis on satellite channels and accused them of displacing the Jewish sect from Sa’adah and Amran, in addition to stealing all their possessions, even their Holy book.
Al-Houthi rebels told the sons of the Jewish sect to leave their villages in Sa’adah, last year.
