Christian group urges boycott of Big Brothers

An evangelical Christian group doesn't want gays mentoring children.

It's urging people to boycott Big Brothers-Big Sisters of America over its policy allowing it.

Focus on the Family is calling for United Way donors to withhold contributions to the non-profit organization.

The group accuses Big Brothers-Big Sisters of forcing its chapters to accept homosexuals as mentors.

But a spokeswoman for Big Brothers-Big Sisters says it does not require agencies to match gays and lesbians with children. She says instead it has a nondiscrimination policy.

In July, Big Brothers-Big Sisters announced it could not exclude adult mentors on the basis of race, religion or sexual orientation.
