Mogadishu, Somalia - Islamic insurgents have taken over the city that houses Somalia's parliament.
Witnesses say fighters loyal to the Shabab militia took over Baidoa late last night after a brief clash with government militiamen. It is not clear if there were casualties. The Shabab now controls Baidoa's airport and parliament building. The Shabab is on Washington's list of terror groups. The group has been gaining ground as Somalia's western-backed government crumbles.
Ethiopian troops who had been propping up the government withdrew Sunday after an unpopular, two-year presence.
