Salt Lake City, USA - The staff of a conservative Mormon blog has chosen Mitt Romney as its 2008 Mormon of the Year.
The staff of Times and Seasons picked Romney because they say he conducted the most credible presidential campaign of any Mormon and dominated the national news.
The blog's Kent Larsen says Romney got both praise and criticism and was often mentioned in international media as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, contributing to the image of the church abroad.
Larsen says naming Romney Mormon of the Year is a recognition of his influence over the past year and doesn't mean the blog endorses his political positions or aspirations.
