More than 300 Nuns Deposed from their Nunnery

Dharamshala, China - According to relevant sources, Samtenling Tibetan Buddhist nunnery at Dakgoe district of Tehore, Dokham, more than three hundred nuns were deposed on June 27, 2008. The deposed nuns were arrested and trodden by the Chinese military for planning to organize peaceful demonstration to express their support to the fellow nun Tsering Tso who was arrested during the peaceful demonstration against Chinese rule on the morning of June 08 this year. (Please refer to our press release on June 09, 2008)

Besides nun Tsering Tso, Urgyen Lhamo and Guru (Although Chinese authority deny the detention of Nun Guru, but her whereabouts is unknown since after the June 08, 2008 demonstration) others were released later but were home-prisoned at their nunnery for 19 days under the Chinese re-education policy, where nuns were force to abuse & defame His Holiness the Dalai Lama. However despite their every attempt to instigate their so-called re-education and force the nuns to speak against His Holiness no nuns did what they were forced to. And seeing the disastrous failure of their policy, on June 27, 2008 at around 4:00 p.m. with only one nun left behind others were all called one by one with their names and deposed from nunnery by handing over to their respective family members.

On June 18, 2008 at around 11:00 a.m. Bhu Ngawang Phuntsok, age 32 of Karze Bulshur Ngangpa Taktsang lifting the photo frame of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in front of Chinese Police office at Karze districted distributed papers and shouted slogans like,

"It pains more than stabbing our heart when Chinese authority force us to abuse His Holiness the Dalai Lama" "Chinese authority must stop demonizing and defaming Dalai Lama" "Bring Human rights in Tibet" "Dalai Lama should be invited to Tibet" and so on. But within few minutes Chinese military over powered him by beating him with the iron and electric rods and dragged him away.

Right after an hour nun Yangzom age 31, Poewang (Pemo) age 27 and Lhamo age 29 from Yae Tseg nunnery of Pang Rina Rinpoche (Phurbu Tsering Rinpoche) shouted slogans like "Dalai Lama should be invited to Tibet" "Bring Human rights in Tibet" "Tibet belongs to Tibetan" "Release Pang Rina Rinpoche and other political prisoners" at Karze district. But within few minutes Chinese military over powered them with the same force as above and dragged them away.

June 26, 2008 more than 100 Chinese military all armed with the guns and rifle suddenly landed at Tehore Karze Dakar nunnery. They surrounded the nunnery and arrested staff nun Tsering Wangchuk (spelling not sure) but on the contrary nun Tsering Wangchuk without a slightest fear said that they were late in arresting her.
