Boy Allegedly Beaten By Church Leaders Released From Hospital

Doctors released Louie Guerrero, 11, from the Brackenridge Children's Hospital Thursday afternoon. Two church leaders, Joshua and Caleb Thompson, accused of beating the boy are out of jail. The twins walked out of jail around 6:30 Wednesday night after posting bond. They're charged with serious bodily injury to a child. The boy's mother says he's doing better, his wounds are healing, but he'll need counseling. Joshua Thompson, 23, and his twin brother Caleb were silent as they walked with their attorney out of the Travis County Jail. The two brothers were each being held on $25,000 dollar bond. Police say the two brothers severely beat the 11 year old with a tree branch for misbehaving during a bible study class last week. Joshua Thompson is pastor of the Capitol City Baptist Church's Spanish speaking congregation. Wednesday night, members of the church met for their regularly scheduled service. Reporters were not allowed inside. However the church's Sunday School teacher di! d make a brief comment saying there is no corporal punishment at the Capitol City Baptist Church and that the Thompson's have said quote, "you don't touch a child." No court date has been set yet for the Thompson brothers. If convicted of serious bodily injury charges they could face life in prison.
