Somalia: Islamists Restore Islamic Administration Into Towns

Mogadisu, Somalia - The Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) has announced to set Islamic Shari'a administration in Kamsuma, Jilib and Jamaame districts in Middle and Lower Jubba regions southern Somalia, after capturing them few days ago.

UIC fighters are holding talks with traditional elders and intellectuals in these areas, in order to sway them to throw out the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia TFG's administration and join UIC.

Abdirahman Abdullahi Weheliye, the commander of UIC fighters in these regions, confirmed that the talks were about to be finalized.

He stressed that he is optimistic that the traditional leaders would accept their (UIC) suggestion of establishing an administration based on Islamic Shari'a in the area.

Kamsuma is 90km north of Kismayu town the provincial capital of lower Jubba region. Also it's the third town that the islamists have taken its control within three days in the last week.

The move comes after fighters loyal to UIC captured parts of Middle and Lower Jubba regions in the past weeks, and as peace talks between the Eritrea-based Alliance for Re-liberation of Somalia and TFG is expected to resume in Djibouti by the end of this month.

The government troops in the town have withdrawn there after they received reports saying that the fighters have came into the town.
