Four men in missionary institution attacked

Satna, India - Masked assailants allegedly beat up and injured four persons at a Christian missionary institution here, police said on Thursday.

Around 14 masked men arrived at Karunalaya, an institution offering services to the poor, on five motorcycles on Wednesday evening and attacked four persons with sticks, they said.

Senior police officers went to the scene and rushed the injured to a hospital. A case has been registered against the unidentified assailants and attempts were on to trace them, police said.

However, the All India Catholic Union’s state president Rajiv Singh has accused saffron groups of committing the crime and demanded enhanced security for missionary institutions.

City Bajrang Dal convenor Atul Sengar, on the other hand, denied the charges and described the incident as unfortunate. He also sought the immediate arrest of the attackers.
