Bhopal, India - Criticising the attack on a church in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, senior Congress leader and former minister Ajay Singh today alleged that Hindu outfits are targeting Christian institutions and places of worship at the behest of the government.
In a statement issued here today, Mr Singh said Hindu outfits were frustrated because of legal objections raised against the Freedom of Religion Bill passed in the state assembly.
He said some people had ransacked a church in Rewa and attacked a priest on July 2. Though police have registered a case, no arrests had been made thus far.
Mr Singh alleged that Christian places of worship had been attacked in tribal-dominated Jhabua district earlier also.
He demanded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to take steps to control such incidents and to take action against culprits.
