Lawyers for polygamist sect leader want cameras banned from court

Salt Lake City, USA - Attorneys for jailed polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs want news cameras banned from court proceedings.

The motion is in response a Utah newspaper story a month ago, which digitally enhanced a photograph to glean some contents of a note written by Jeffs at his lawyers' desk during a hearing.

Jeffs' attorneys contend that was a violation of his right to privacy.

The 51-year-old Jeffs is leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which is headquartered on the Utah-Arizona border.

He's charged with rape by accomplice for his role in arranging a marriage between an underage girl and her cousin.
