Kingston, Jamaica - A senior Anglican cleric was stabbed to death at his home in a church compound in Jamaica's capital, police said Monday.
The Rev. Richard Johnson was attacked Sunday night at St. Jude's Anglican Church in the upscale Stony Hill section of Kingston, police Cpl. Beverley Howell said.
A witness heard the priest screaming for help and called authorities, who found Johnson dead from several stab wounds, Howell said.
A man who had been seen in the area recently was being sought for questioning but authorities had no one in custody and did not disclose a possible motive. Johnson's death came a week after police reported that homicides in Jamaica had passed 1,000 for the third straight year.
