Washington, USA - An American Muslim group is criticizing Virginia Beach religious broadcaster Reverend Pat Robertson for suggesting that the Quran (ku-RAHN') -- rather than being a divine revelation -- was a fraudulent creation of Muhammad to justify his own actions.
On his television show "The 700 Club" last Thursday, Robertson also said "violent jihad" is a core Islamic teaching, and he said Islam is not a religion of peace.
Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, says Muslims who hear such statements may conclude that their faith is under attack from America.
Hooper says clerics should be promoting their own faiths rather than attacking other religions.
