Prominent religious sect leader killed after mosque attack in Fatih

Istanbul, Turkey - A prominent leader of the religious sect of "Naksibendi" in Turkey has been stabbed to death at a mosque in Istanbul's Fatih district. Bayram Ali Ozturk was killed by Mustafa Erdal in the Ismailaga Mosque in Fatih, with witnesses asserting that Erdal was then lynched to death by bystanders.

Ozturk had apparently been at the Fatih Ismailaga mosque with some of his followers, speaking at one of his usual Sunday afternoon meetings. Erdal, one of the attendees of the meeting, went to the front of mosque where Ozturk was sitting, and stabbed him twice in the heart, killing him.
