Imphal, India - One person was killed and five others were injured when unidentified persons fired at a crowded church in Churachandpur district of Manipur last night, official sources said.
Sources said today that evening services were being held in the church at Vengnuom area when some armed persons in combat dress came in a vehicle and started firing in the direction of the church at around 8 pm.
One person, identified as Thangkhalian (35), died on the spot, sources said, adding that five others identified as Sumkhamluwa (16), Longjamang (21), Lengjiyangching (22) and Thangmuwanglal (19) were injured.
Sources said the condition of Lengjamang and Thangmuwanglal was serious.
Identities of the armed persons were not immediately known.
