Moscow, Russia - Russian Federal Registration Service will not apply any restrictions to non-traditional religious organizations.
"We act in accordance with the bill on the freedom of conscience and religious organizations, which does not contain any serious or other repressive tools against religious organizations," Alexey Zhafyarov, head of the service's department for political parties and public religious organizations told Interfax.
Some officials said recently that the case against sect leader Grigory Grabovoy is a signal to repress sects and other non-traditional religious organizations.
"This has nothing to do with us. The prosecutor's office has questions to ask Grabovoy, but the agencies of the Federal Registration Service have nothing to do with it," Zhafyarov said.
"We will act in full compliance with the law and apply only the measures provided by it," he said.
