Saffron activists protest outside church against missionary

Jaipur, India - Activists of Bajrang Dal and VHP today protested outside a church here demanding the arrest of a Kota-based missionary for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu and Jain dieties in a book.

About 30 saffron activists tried to close the Rajasthan Bible Church at the Ajmer road here demanding arrest of M A Thomas, founder of Emmanuel Mission for the alleged derogatory remarks in his book titled "Haqiquat", Additional Superintendent of Police Subhash Vishnoi said.

But the police swung into action and dispersed the protestors, he said adding saffron activists also put up blockades in Mansarovar area in the outskirts of the city.

The controversial text was removed from the book following protests, a spokesman for the Mission said.
