Indianapolis, USA - Indiana U.S. Rep. Mike Sodrel is introducing a bill that would bar federal judges from ruling on the content of prayer in state Legislatures.
The move by the southern Indiana Republican would prevent rulings like one from a federal judge last year that banned prayers in the Indiana House that promote a specific religion.
Sodrel holds a news conference in Indianapolis at 11 a.m. to discuss his bill.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana calls Sodrel's bill a disservice to judges and the American legal system. The ACLU of Indiana filed the suit that resulted in the federal judge's ruling.
State House Speaker Brian Bosma has asked a federal appeals court to overturn the order.
