Bill to Ban Protesting at Funerals to Become Law

Gov. Doyle says he'll sign the bill that bans protesting within 500 feet of a funeral.

The Senate voted 33 to 0 and the Assembly 92 to 3 Thursday (February 2, 2006). The bill stems from a Kansas church that disrupts services for soldiers killed in Iraq. It blames those deaths on our country's tolerance for homosexuality.

One lawmaker who voted against the bill says it may violate people's right to free speech.
