Texas woman arrested after charging Hinckley

Salt Lake City, USA - A Texas woman was arrested after charging the pulpit Sunday during the opening remarks of a Christmas devotional at the conference center for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Police said 44-year-old Carol Davis jumped from her seat and ran toward church prophet and President Gordon B. Hinckley as he prepared to open the ceremony. Davis carried with her documents that she believed Hinckley needed to see, said Salt Lake City police Lt. Dave Askerlund. "She felt she had some information on some lost part of the Book of Mormon that had since been translated that she needed to get to him," Askerlund said. Church security officers stopped the woman's advance, led her from the conference hall and called

police. Church security told police they were familiar with the information Davis attempted to deliver, saying it had been circulated on the Internet, Askerlund said. Davis was arrested and cited with a misdemeanor for trespassing and disrupting a religious meeting, Askerlund said. She was released and was expected to be onboard a flight to Texas early this morning.
