12 injured in Ayodhya clash

Ayodhya, India - At least 12 people, including some Sadhus, were injured when two factions clashed over the cremation of a sect leader at Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place after the death of Baba Madhuvan Das of Sagariya Patti sect when a group of people claimed their right over the body which was objected by another group, they said.

Separate FIRs were lodged by both the factions at the Kotwali police station.

The body was later cremated under police protection.

Among the injured, six seriously injured persons were admitted at Sri Ram hospital in Ayodhya, police said adding the situation was under control.
