FBI joins search for indicted leader of polygamous sect

Salt Lake City, USA - The F-B-I has joined the hunt for the leader of a polygamous sect on the Utah-Arizona border who is wanted on criminal sex charges.

The bureau added a charge of unlawful flight to Warren Jeffs' legal troubles.

Jeffs is the lanky, 6-foot-4 leader wanted on an Arizona indictment charging he arranged a marriage between a teenage girl and a 28-year-old man who already had one wife.

The F-B-I calls Jeffs a fugitive -- and says it can follow leads on his whereabouts from all 50 states.

Jeffs' church last year bought ranches in Eldorado, Texas, and Mancos, Colo., and has a Canadian outpost at Creston, British Columbia.

But he hasn't been seen in public for almost two years.
