Sikhs won’t let Guru Granth Sahib in temples, says Vedanti

Amritsar, India - Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti today announced that the Sikhs won’t allow placing of Guru Granth Sahib in Hindu temples as announced by leaders of the VHP. He said Sikhs enjoyed separate identity as already announced by Akal Takht.

In a statement issued here today, he said the path of Guru Granth Sahib could be performed only at a place where maryada (the Sikh tradition) was maintained. He said the VHP leaders who had described the Sikhs as armed wing of the Hindus should refrain from making such statements, aimed at creating division in society.

Meanwhile, the Sikh Students Federation (Mehta group) has decided to take out a march here tomorrow in protest against the statements of VHP leaders.
