Federal authorities have filed a lawsuit against the community of the Moscow church of St. Nicholas in Bersenevka for rejecting the registration number assigned to their church.
The Orthodox community of the church of St. Nicholas refused to accept the registration number assigned to its church saying it was based on the “number of the beast”. The matter will now be resolved in court, Interfax news agency reports.
Earlier this week the parishioners received a summons to the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow. Proceedings were instigated at the request of Aleksandr Buksman, head of the main directorate of the Federal Registrar Service. His complaint will be heard on April 11.
