Mangalore, India -- RSS would discuss ways to arrest the "declining" Hindu population in the country as well as the issue of quota for converted Christians and religion-based reservation at the three-day conclave of its highest policy making body beginning here tomorrow.
Briefing reporters here, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav described as "grave" the Census Report of 2001 which spoke of demographic imbalances and said "Hindu population in several parts of the country seems to be declining".
At its national executive meeting in Hardwar six months ago, RSS had decided to undertake a public awareness campaign on the issue, he said.
The Akhil Bharat Pratinidhi Sabha would discuss what else could be done to arrest the "declining Hindu population" besides educating people and creating an awareness about what should be done to have a balanced rise of population, he said.
The Kashmir initiative of the government and the naxal violence in some parts of the country were earlier expected to come up for debate in a big way but the RSS national executive, which finalised the agenda today, decided to focus more on decline in Hindu population and religion-based reservation,he said.
