Many adults in France think spiritual leaders should not address sexuality, according to a poll by CSA released by Le Monde des Religions. 62 per cent of respondents believe religious institutions are completely unjustified in intervening to discuss the topic.
In 2003, the Catholic Church expressed its position on same-sex marriage, asking all Catholics—and especially Catholic politicians—to oppose the legal recognition of gay and lesbian partners. John Paul II staunchly opposes birth control and abortion.
