RSS chief K S Sudarshan on Sunday charged some churches in the country, including those in the Northeast, with carrying out religious conversions with a political motive.
"Some churches in the country, especially those in the Northeast, were busy in conversions which were politically motivated," Sudarshan told a rally of RSS workers at Netaji school in Maligaon here.
Referring to Northeastern states, in particular Tripura, the RSS leader said it was indeed a matter of great concern that militant outfits, including NLFT, were terrorising people in the name of religion.
To reverse this trend, Sudarshan said, the mindset of people had to be changed as they should realise that conversion is an attack on civilisation itself.
Stating RSS was not a fundamentalist organisation, he said, "Hindutva is a national concept and is imbibed in the very psyche of our country."
Blasting Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism in India, Sudarshan said the country should be stronger in terms of weaponry to command respect in the international community.
"Our nuclear weaponry should be updated with critical tests and soldiers equipped with sophisticated weapons to counter the threat posed by countries like Pakistan," he said.
The RSS leader during his hour-long speech said that through ISI, Pakistan was trying to destabilise the country.
