Tibet Allows No Abuse of Religion to Undermine Stability

Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Legqog, said here Thursday that nobody is allowed to undermine social stability and economic development in Tibet under the pretext of religion.

Legqog said at a press conference Tibet is at its best period of development in history, and the freedom of religious belief is well guaranteed according to the country's Constitution.

However, religious activities should be conducted within the permission of the law and abusing the freedom of religious belief to disturb economic and social affairs of Tibet is against the will of the people in Tibet, he said.

The chairman said the Dalai Lama and his followers have become tools of foreign anti-China forces, and the Dalai Lama, acting under the disguise of religion, has turned out be the root cause of social instability in Tibet.

He said Tibet has made universally acknowledged achievements in economic and social development since its peaceful liberation 50 years ago, and the 2.6 million people have become the master of Tibet.

"Fact is fact and the false can not be turned into truth," said Legqog, who also advised those who want to know the real situation in Tibet to come to see what is going on here.
