ANGLICAN bishops in Africa have resolved to stop total dependence on American churches in a bid to preserve the Church's morals.
The Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Dr. Michael Kyomya, on Sunday said the resolution was reached at an Anglican Bishops' Conference in Nigeria recently.
He said dependence on American churches put Anglican churches at a great risk of compromising the morals on which the church was founded. Kyomya, who was passing out 331 Lay Readers at Christ's Cathedral in Bugembe, cited homosexuality and lesbianism that are being promoted by American churches.
"At the meeting, we castigated gay marriages and other practices that derail Christian faith," he said.
He also warned against moral degeneration, which he said had eaten up society.
