The chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Foster O Ekeleme in his Easter massage to Christians in Kano urged Christians to be united by avoiding anything capable of causing segregation and disharmony among Christian's communities and the nation at large.
Bishop Ekeleme made this appeal yesterday during this years "United Jesus Easter Rally" (UJER) organized by CAN, which was held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, said that hence the celebration of Easter calls for peace and unity, it is important that Christians exhibit unity among each other and extol only the things that can build the nation. He noted that practicing Christianity in a Sharia state should be seen as a good challenge for Christians to always exhibit their best conducts that would portray them as people of peace and justice, not disobedient people.
The CAN chairman then stressed that if Christians chose to be segregating among themselves, it will be difficult for them to appreciate each others ways of worship, which he said will also affect their judgment of other religious practice. Also speaking at the occasion the Catholic bishop of Kano, Bishop Patrick F Sheehan, observed that Easter season is a time for faith and hope, adding that unless Christians learn to put their hope on God, they will continue to have problem while reflecting on the love that made Jesus Christ died for mankind.
Bishop Sheehan stressed that because of the Easter celebration, Christians most be prepared to work toward unity not only among Christians but both unity of all mankind which was one of the major desire of Jesus. The Catholic Bishop then challenged Christians to strive to be witness of the faith they practice by exhibiting the principles of Christianity wherever they find them selves in the society.
