The Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Charles Gyang-Duah, has urged Ghanaians to join Presbyterians in a week-long fasting and prayers to usher the church's 175th Anniversary and also for world peace and stability.
In a statement, the Rev. Gyang-Duah said the fasting and prayer which begin February 16 to 23 is not directed to Presbyterians alone but to all Ghanaians who have benefited from the church's holistic ministry since the past seventeen and half decades.
Rev. Dr. Gyang-Duah said the celebration would be incomplete if there are chieftaincy and ethnic conflicts in the country.
He, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to pray for peace and success on the ongoing workshop for peace and reconciliation between the Andanis and Abudus at Akosombo.
The Clerk appealed to Ghanaians not to forget countries that are torn by war especially in Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and Algeria.
Rev. Dr. Gyang-Duah urged Ghanaians of different faiths to endeavour to pray for peace between Iraq and USA, Israel and Palestine and North Korea and her neighbour.
The theme of the anniversary is: "Come let us walk in the light of the Lord" (Isaiah 2 : 5b)
